Christina Wheeler, DVM
Professional Services Veterinarian, Shenandoah Region (VA, WV)
Growing up in southwest Virginia, Dr. Christina Wheeler’s love of learning and animals led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She began exploring this career path shortly after high school by working at a local companion animal hospital. It was there that she gained invaluable practical experience working as a kennel attendant, receptionist, and veterinary technician.
Following graduation from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Wheeler practiced as an Associate Veterinarian for nine years, primarily in coastal Delaware. Dr. Wheeler considers preventative care, geriatric medicine, clinical pathology, public health, and all things feline to be her primary interests.
In her new role as a Professional Services Veterinarian with the Merck Animal Health Team, she is most excited to continue working closely with fellow veterinarians and staff to provide education and support that will ultimately improve the lives of pets and the people who love them.
When she’s not in the field, Dr. Wheeler enjoys hiking, spending time with her family, friends, and two very spoiled senior cats. She is also a novice guitar and ukulele player.
“As a veterinarian, I feel fortunate to be part of a profession that affords me the opportunity to constantly learn. What I love most about being part of the Merck Animal Health Team is the commitment to the veterinary community through science and education.”
