Merck Animal Health Launches Cattle Care365® and Aqua Care365®
Merck Animal Health rolled out two new editions of its Care365™ training programs to cattlemen, fish farmers, veterinarians and industry professionals in the first quarter of 2019. Cattle Care365® was released at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Conference (NCBA) in January, and Aqua Care365® was introduced at Aquaculture 2019 in March. Building on Dairy Care365®, the employee animal handling video training program is designed to empower the best animal care every day.
Lesson one the first Cattle Care365® educational training module is now available online free to producers and veterinarians. It will focus on beef cattle handling and processing, including: preparation for processing; how to use the flight zone of cattle; handling cattle through a Bud Box, crowding tub and snake; proper use of the chute; and proper product administration. The video module is followed with a brief quiz to help ensure employee understanding of the material, and a certificate of completion is available to document the training. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) also are included for managers to use alongside their veterinarians to build important protocols.
Dr. Angela Baysinger, DVM, M.S., animal welfare lead for Merck Animal Health, North America talks about the importance of cattle handling at NCBA. Learn more about Cattle Care365®.
